Discharge News
March 19 2008
There are a couple of changes to gigs coming up very soon - the Aberdeen
and Dundee gigs have swapped dates:
Aberdeen - now on Friday 21 March
Dundee - now on Saturday 22 March
Material from the new album will be reviewed very soon. For those
of you who saw Discharge recently, you will have already heard what the new
sound is like.
February 29 2008
The Discussions are now working again, after I'd worked on the problem
today - make your views known about this site and the band so that we can
give you the website you want to see.
February 28 2008
Newcastle gig is postponed until next Thursday (March 6), due to Rainy
having flu and Rat only just recovering from it!!!
Tell anyone you know that is planning on going tonight and apologies for
the short notice!
I'll see any of you who plan to go to Trillians next week.
Additional - the Discussion Boards are down for some reason...not sure
why, but it may be related to the fact that the website has been recently
"upgraded" by my provider...
February 21 2008
The gig that was to be at Mansfield on the 13th March has been cancelled.
Also, the gig at Leicester has had its date changed, but at the present time
I do not know the new date. Until we know for definite, I would
suggest that you contact the Mansfield Townhouse to see if they know
anything.
The new album is nearly finished recording and I should be getting some
advance tracks for review soon. I will let you all know what the new
sound is like and if it's anything like the "Beginning of the End" EP
released back in 2006.
I'm also planning on doing a re-design of the website. This will
include how the site looks as well as the content in it, so if you have any
suggestions about what you'd like to see in here, tell us on the Discussion
Boards - I'll create a section in there for you all to record your ideas.
More news as and when I get it.
January 12 2008

November 2 2007
The Newport gig scheduled for the 7th December has been changed as
Discharge are to play with UK Subs at the
London Astoria 2 (now called The Mean Fiddler) - check the website for
ticket details. At this time, we are not aware of the new date for
Newport, but keep checking back here for more details.
Other news: Discharge had to pull out of two shows in Zagreb and
Belgrade, as Rainy was taken into hospital he had pneumonia. He is now out
and on the road to recovery the band apologise for this and are hoping to
reschedule the shows as soon as is possible.
September 8 2007
Things might seem quite on the Discharge front but we have been fully
concentrating on writing songs for a new album. The hard work is paying off
we are about 4 songs away from finishing. We have recently been into the
studios at Bradford 1 in 12 to lay a few rough ideas down with Brian Doom at
the helm engineering and producing. We have decided to go out and do a few
shows, where we are going to play a few of the new ideas & see how they go
down live.
The dates are as follows:
Fri Sept 15th - Nottingham The Maze
Fri Sept 28th - Halifax The Shay
Fri Nov 16th - Glasgow The Barfly
Sat Nov 17th - Huddersfield West Riding
Thurs Dec 6th - Birmingham Barfly (with UK Subs)
Fri Dec 7th - Newport TJs
Sat Dec 8th - Blackburn North Bar
Fri Dec 14th - Leeds Joseph Wells
Sun Dec 16th - Stoke on Trent The Glebe
Also the band should be playing Austria, Croatia and Hungary on Oct 25th, 26
and 27th - just waiting for confirmation.
August 28 2007
It's been a while since we had some news, but here is a statement from
the guys, regarding the Montreal show:
Discharge have pulled out of the Montreal Chaos show because Rainy was
deported few years ago from the USA as the band was due to do a tour. He was
jailed for two days and escorted handcuffed to the plane. The experience for
him was pretty much a nightmare as anyone could imagine. Well aparently
Rainy discovered that the Canadian and USA immigration use the same
database, so as much as some people said risk it see if he gets in, we would
not want to put him through the experience again (I mean for fuck sakes come
on) and as no flights had been booked for any band by this time it was Aug
1st, we had doubts whether it would go on. The weekend of the 4th and 5th
August discharge played Stockholm August Bulier Festival and was due to play
the Anti Fest in Prague, but promoter pulled it last minute.
When we returned back on the Monday 6th August, Bones spoke to rest of
Discharge and did not feel it right to go and play the Chaos Festival with
only one original member in the line up (a bit of a rip off for those that
wanted to see the band) and after all Rainy's bass sound is a big part of
Discharge, so it has nothing to do with money, as obviously the wankers that
have nothing better to do are spreading. We hope to get Rainy the correct
papers so next year we can get him into the USA and Canada and get out there
and tour, there endeth the lesson.

October 11 2006
There has been a change to the Discussion Forum - I have
password-protected the whole of the folder where the Forum resides, so that
it keeps the spambots out. When you are prompted by the page to enter
a password in the pop-up login box, use the following info:
username: never
password: again
Once you're in, you can then use the forum as usual. Note that if
you want to post articles, you will have to log into the BOARD using your
normal username and password, not the one above.

April 16 2006
The new tour has finished for now and it was a storm! At
Newcastle, we didn't get to hear the new track from the EP (drum stool
broke!), but the set was pretty damn good! Thanks to those in the
crowd that took website flyer off us and thanks to the band for letting me
take photos - they'll be up on the site shortly. If anyone else has
photos from any of the recent gigs, please send them in and I'll give them a
good home up here.
The band have the following statement about the tour:
"DISCHARGE WOULD LIKE TO THANK EVERYONE THAT CAME TO THE SHOWS AND GAVE
US GREAT SUPPORT, WE HAD A GREAT TIME AND CAN'T WAIT TO GET BACK OUT ON THE
ROAD WE ARE WORKING ON A SECOND FULL TOUR AROUND OCT/ NOV WE HAVE THE
OCCASIONAL GIGS IN BETWEEN ( CHECK WEBSITE) SO TILL THEN CHEERS TEZZ, BONES

and before the touring starts in earnest!
Anyone wanting to book the band, can you please use their agency -
Crucial Talent.

March as first reported.
January 20 2006
There's a couple of dates added to the upcoming tour:
Monday March 3rd: Hull - The Ringside
Tuesday March 4th: Coventry - The Jail House
I'll do a review of the new EP once I get my hands on a copy.
January 2 2006
Here's some news from the band - a New Year's Message!
Many thanks to everyone that has supported us over the years greatly
appreciated, I know things were a bit quite in the Discharge camp or so
it seemed over 2005.
We have been busy working on new material to be released in 2006 and of
course the birth of the two new Roberts boys, we are going into the
studio early Feb to lay down 3 new tracks for a EP release which will
hopefully be on CD format (with bonus DVD tracks) and vinyl.
Not sure which tracks will be on it - titles we are working with: "They
Lie You Die", "Blood of the Innocent", "The World Fights Back" (we shall
be including the new songs in the live set).
The EP should be ready for when we hit the road for a few UK shows (see
below in previous News) so save ya Xmas money, it is being released on
Thunk Records, who are also putting out the official Discharge DVD
shortly after the tour (I know its late, but things are now in the final
stages).
We are also planning a second phase of shows around the UK sometime in
May/June so if you know of a venue that might be interested in booking
Discharge, send it to the site and we will
pass details onto the booking agent. A lot of things to look forward to
in 2006 see ya there. The nightmare continues...
Tezz, Rainy, Bones, Rat
Great stuff to come, then...! Can't wait...
December 26 2005

Welcome to the new-look site. I hope you like it - it makes it
a little easier to navigate around and I will be uploading more images of
the covers when I get around to scanning them. Thanks to all those who
have been in touch with updates to the Gigs and some memories of the early
days. I will be publishing that lot very soon. I also plan to
make the News page updatable by the band themselves, so they get news across
to all of you sooner than I can.
7 October 2005
The band has got in touch and have sent out the following news forus:
"Bones and Sarah have had a healthy baby boy Conor George Roberts.
The band are planning two UK shows for the end of the year - more soon."
Congrats to Bones & Sarah - let's see "the next generation" of Discharge
soon...
14 August 2005
The guys have sent on some news for us:
Tezz and Tracy had a boy Jack Daniel Roberts. All
are doing well.
Tracy and Tezz got married on Wednesday August 8th.
Bones and Sarah's baby is due in a couple of weeks.
I've asked about how the new album is going - we should
hear about an update soon.
I'm currently doing a bit of site re-design at the moment - nothing major
- and am looking to try and make it more interactive so that the band
themselves can post news for us all to read.
17 June 2005
Thanks once again to the twats who hacked the site. I didn't get a
more up-to-date backup than this, but it's better than nowt. I don't
think there's too much damage, but some links may take a little while to put
right. Some of the News has gone, but I was gonna prune it down anyway...
Once more - fuck off to all hackers!
22 April 2005

Thanks To No Fucker!! My website has hit by a virus, but luckily I
got the home page restored - hopefully the fuckwits who host the site have
got their server fixed now.
No other real news as yet, but I got the book "Burning Britain" recently,
which has some great stuff on bands from 1980-84 in the UK. Well worth
a purchase from Amazon UK...
24 August 2004
Here is a review of recent Stoke gig that Discharge played:
DISCHARGE + SICK ON THE BUS + DRONGOS FOR EUROPE - Stoke-on-Trent,
Talbot (17/09/04)
After a rather disappointing showing at Wasted recently,
expectations are high for Discharge to turn in a good performance tonight,
and they deliver all we could hope for, and much more. From the second they
take the stage in fact, it’s very apparent that this is going to be an
infinitely superior gig. No lengthy intro tape for starters, they just
stroll on and blast into ‘Hear Nothing, See Nothing, Say Nothing’… and who
can’t but be impressed when they hear such a song in full flight?
No murky sound today either; although they have problems
with Rainy’s bass cutting out on several occasions, the mix is thick and
powerful, and most importantly Bones’ guitar is scything the air like a
tightly coiled strand of razor wire that’s just snapped under some immense
strain. Rat’s barking ferociously like a pitbull on a very short leash as he
prowls the cramped stage, but the intimate atmosphere – the band are
literally right there, in our faces – just adds to the intensity.
At Wasted, they seemed ill at ease and strangely detached
from proceedings, but tonight they’re really up for it, and so are we, and
there’s a sizzling connection between stage and hall. We’re hit hard and
fast with classic after gnarly classic, the only minor criticism being that
maybe some of the old mid-tempo songs (like ‘Ain’t No Feeble Bastard’ and ‘A
Look At Tomorrow’) are actually played too fast (too fast? Is there such a
thing?) and they lose a little of their monstrous groove.
Just before they got up and tore us a new arsehole, Rat
also told me that the band have finished work on two new songs, although
they’re not ready to be gigged yet, so a brand new record with the current
lineup may not be too far away. That will be the real test for Discharge,
but right now, when they’re on this kind of form, I have every faith that
they can pull off something special.
Earlier tonight, we were also treated to a solid set of
infectious anthemic punk by evergreen Brummie veterans, Drongos For Europe,
who opened the show in fine style. And then Sick On The Bus staggered on and
treated us to an amusingly inebriated and obnoxious thirty minutes, which
would have been even better if they’d been able to remember their own songs!
‘Sloppy’ doesn’t even come close to describing it, but these guys always
entertain, especially when under the influence.

There's a fair bit of news this time - firstly, I have
been asked by Tezz to take over the Discharge website. At this time, I
don't know if it means running this site as the official one, or taking over
their current website at
www.discharge.uk.com, or maybe even merging the two to create a new site
- there'll be more info on that once I know myself and I'll post more news
as I hear it on that.
Secondly, there are more gigs coming up!
Discharge play two nights at Stoke-On-Trent :
Talbort Hotel Friday September 17th
with Sick On the Bus and Drongoes For Europe , then on the Saturday night
September
18th with Chaos UK and Billy Club, tickets are priced £8 for either night
or £12 for entry to both nights. Tickets are available from music mania in
Hanley tel: 01782 206000 or
www.musicmaniauk.com.
Space is limited so get them ASAP.
Discharge then go to Scandinavia! They play
Thursday 23rd September Gamla Oslo in Norway, Friday 24th September
Fryshuaset Stockholm in Sweden, Saturday 25th September TBA Helsinki
Finland and Sunday 26th September TBA Tampere Finland.
On Sunday November 28th, Discharge play with
Exploited and GBH at Rock City Nottingham in England - should be a good one!
Thanks to Rat for for the gig info - I hope to hear more
news as it happens, so keep checking back here!
I have some more photos to upload soon from the Brazil
gigs they done recently - hopefully they'll be on the site over the
weekend...depending on how I feel after my first stag do...!
11 July 2004
Rat has got in touch with me and asked me to pass on the
following message:
DISCHARGE APOLOGISE TO ALL THOSE THAT TURNED
UP TO SEE THEM AT FULL FORCE FESTIVAL, ON THE WAY TO THE AIRPORT THE BAND
HAD VAN TROUBLE WHICH MEANT THEY MISSED THEIR FLIGHT - THE ONLY ONE THAT
DAY. HOPEFULLY THE BAND WILL BE BACK OVER GERMANY SOON.
Rat also sent the full version of an interview for
Terrorizer magazine - you can read this in the History section.
10 June 2004
Not much to report at the moment, but I have been in
contact with a guy in Brazil who said that the lads went down well there!
I still haven't got the video from The Archer yet - here's hoping!
I've started off a new Bulletin Board (hosted on my other site) so that I
can start to keep track of any memoirs and gig lists etc about the band so
that I can start to work on the book I've been wanting to do for some time.
I don't want my bulletin board to go the same way as the official board went
- i.e. turning into a Tezz and Rat -bashing forum! Any posts even
resembling that sort of subject will be binned as soon as.
As far as the book goes, I've only got the initial idea of chapters
sketched out so far, with their titles sorted. I plan to use the info
I got from Tanya Rich as well as hopefully re-establishing links with Mike
Stone and the guys from the 1991 line-up. Hopefully Steve from Thunk
Records will be able to expand on his time in the Grave New World era too!
I will be contacting Rainy soon too after he's got back from the Brazil tour
and from that hopefully get a chance to interview Tezz and Bones in depth.
Of course, the one that is missing from this list of interviewees is the
elusive Cal. I feel that no book about Discharge would be complete
without some input from the longest-serving singer of the group. I can
only hope that I can somehow make contact and get a positive response!
On the subject of the Brazil tour, my contact also said that MTV recorded
an interview and 3 songs, so hopefully this footage will see the light of
day at some point!
15 May 2004
I am recovering after what can only be described as an
absolute belter of a gig last night!
The lads turned up at The Archer in Newcastle and were in excellent form,
as we witnessed a 4-song soundcheck that gave a taster of what was to come
later on that night. If you have any concerns about Rat being the
vocalist for the band, then forget about them - he rules!
I got a chance to meet them backstage before they delivered the Hell On
Earth to a packed venue. I got talking to Tezz and Rat first and they
are really down-to-earth lads, talking about the tour and the plans for the
DVD and new album - these should be great when they come out!
Stepping past Bones who was catching up on some sleep at the time, I
spent a while chatting to Rainy, who although generally considered to be the
more quiet of the group, was keen to talk and I spent a good while with him.
Later on as Bones woke up (snapshots to come) and I was introduced to him by
Tezz, he took time out to talk to me too.
All I can say is that the lads are definitely back on track with the band
and they are all eager to show the world what they are capable of.
Photos of the gig will be going up soon, once I sort them out and it was
a pity that the gig didn't get recorded - I tried but my MiniDisc let me
down. The gig was being videoed, so with a bit of luck that should
with me soon.
Grab whatever chance you can to see them - you'll not regret it!
8 April 2004
Another long time between updates, but what news I have!
First off, the guys have announced that a pretty big tour of the UK is at
last all systems go, so look forward to seeing Tezz, Bones, Rainy & Rat in a
city near you soon! They also plan to visit Germany and Brazil too!
Note the change of dates for the Brazil tour in the gigs section, as it is a
bit earlier than previously stated.
Secondly, I now have many more live recordings, one of
which is from 1979 with Tezz on vocals! Most of these are on tape, so
I have my work cut out to master them onto CD....a nice little summer job I
think! These recordings are not for sale, so please don't ask,
but if you have stuff to trade, get in contact. I think Tezz could be
interested in a copy of the 1979 gig....
I look forward to seeing the guys at Newcastle and
hopefully will get some great photos and even audio or video! If
anyone is going to the Newcastle gig and wants to meet up, swap stuff, etc,
drop me a line, OK? Ticket price is £8 for the Newcastle gig, so I
guess that will probably be the going rate elsewhere. If anyone plans
to take photos, video or audio from these gigs, then a swap for stuff I have
will be up for grabs.
I also forgot to tell you that the Music Soujourn website
now has the Tezz interview available to listen to - if you're an HTML
tech-head, you can eventually get to the main RM file so that it can be
burned to CD or converted to WAV etc. The link to the website where
the interview is:
http://musicsojourn.com/AR/Alt/page/d/Discharge.htm and just click the
Play Lo link button and you'll need Real Player to listen to it.
Whilst looking through a copy of Kerrang recently I
noticed an advert for the Astoria gig on 10 April, which used the 8 image
montage menu I use on this site as the home page - great to see the lads
using my images (which are their images really) as promo material.
They asked if it would be OK and of course who am I to refuse them?!
The Images section has had a bit of a revamp to make it
easier to view and I'll do a bit more work on it soon to finish it off - at
least you can see some shots from the 100 Club back in 1983 now. I got
these from a fan who got them off a mate. The scans weren't brilliant
and looked like 256-colur low res, but after a little bit of Paint Shop Pro
restoration, they look a little more like photos.
The Discharge in Finland site eventually went down, but
after getting in touch with the original site owner, I am now proud to say
that this site is the official host of those great pics. The link has
been updated and searching for these in Yahoo now brings you here instead of
a bad link.
Additional - I've updated the Lyrics section, so
apologies to all concerned about certain songs having wrong lyrics...I had
forgotten about the lyric sheet that was originally supplied with the
earlier singles/EPs and have now edited the offending songs to reflect the
true words and not those of the heavily-erroneous "Punk and Destroy"
attempts.
30 January 2004
It's been some time since the last update, but I have had other stuff
going on so was unable to update (nothing much had happened really anyway).
Great news now though - Discharge are very actuve and will be on tour
throughout Europe this year and possibly USA again! Check the Gigs
section for more details.
There is to be a new album released this summer entitled "Beginning of
the End" on Thunk Records and distributed through Cargo UK and Cargo USA.
Looks like the lads have shrugged off the Sanctuary Records death-grasp at
last.
A documentary DVD with old and new live footage as well as interviews
will also be released later in the year, so keep your eyes peeled for that
one.
To top it all, there is to be a new official Discharge website set up
from today. I must say that I didn't know about this and it puts paid
to my plans of this site becoming the official site. Hopefully it will
be really up-to-date and contain lots of stuff I simply can't get a hold of.
Thanks to all concerned that have contacted me in recent times with
offers of audio and video - it's much appreciated and I'm always after more!
Hopefully soon I will have the Sugar Mill video (yes it was filmed!)
in full. The website that has samples of the gig's called
Athens-Hardcore.
I now have the Hanley 1983 and Japan 1991 gigs on DVD and am at present
finalising DVD Menus and box artwork for these.
The new website is apparently going to be at
www.discharge.uk.com
Not live yet, but hopefully soon then, eh?
Oh, there will be more images uploaded soon, including some stuff from
the 100 Club 1983 - not fantastic quality in terms of file size and
resolution, but still great to look at!
26 November 2003
More great news!
Discharge are to play the Sugar Mill club in
Stoke-on-Trent (good old UK!) on 18 December 2003! I am not sure if I
will be able to make it down there, so I hope more UK gigs are planned, but
it's a great opportunity for us to see the new line-up in action!
Tickets are £5 (from local outlets?), or you can use the website
www.wayahead.com to book them at £6.25
each (maximum 10) including the old booking fee. The club is for over
14s only, but the gig itself is billed as an over 18s event, so make sure
you're either over 18 or look like you are!!
If anyone is definitely planning on going and are going to take video or
audio of the gig, get in touch. Also, if anyone fancies getting me a
T-shirt on the night I will forward dosh onto them. I may yet be able
to get down there, but as most of my plans fall apart, it may well not
happen!
If anyone wants to see and hear what they sound like now, then the DVD of
the Finland gig is one way of doing just that....
4 October 2003
The video of PuntalaRock has now been transferred to DVD with a menu to
select between the gig and interview. A copy has went to Tanya Rich,
who was the manager of the band in the early days as thank-you for her time
spent answering questions.
More detail on the dates that they played in
the USA recently will be filled in when I get a chance to read the back of
the T-shirt I took delivery of today!
29 September 2003
Here's some hot news just in:Discharge Interview with
Tezz Live on The Internet
The show with the interview in its 1st hour is now cued on Live365 and will

Interview by Tom Shulte 9/28/03
http://www.live365.com/play/94510
The replay on LUVeR.com is:
Wednesday 6pm-9pm (Pacific) or 9pm-Midnight (Eastern)
I will let you know when the isolated interview is available at
musicsojourn.com.
I also have got the PuntalaRock gig on video (thanks
Markku!) and am presently mastering it onto DVD with menus, cover, etc.
I'm also getting a tour t-shirt too now (thanks Dan!).
Any videos of the new gigs would be appreciated....
Oh - also, the current stand-in bassist is called Davey.
Hailing from San Diego, he is their driver and is doing a great job for Dis
as they continue their tour. Let's hope Rainy gets sorted soon and is
back in the gang though....
Pics from the US tour are coming soon too....
25 September 2003
Well, it looks like the US tour has definitely started and things are
looking good! That is, apart from the fact that Rainy did not seem to
be able to get a Visa, so he isn't playing at present! I am uncertain
who is standing in on bass - I'm sure someone can identify the mystery guest
at some point...go on...ask them!
Oh, if anyone can get me a tour shirt and any other
related gear (flyers/posters/tickets etc), I'd be grateful and repay you or
swap for a promo copy of their latest album, which by all accounts is not
being sold at the gigs.
Once again, if anyone can get a video of any of the gigs
to me, I'd be very grateful!
Oh, I am now in touch with Tanya Rich, who used to be the
band's manager back in the early days and and hopefully will be getting
mucho information about life back in the days when the band were starting
out. This, together with the info I will be getting from Mike Stone
and Nigel Bamford will start to show a good idea of what the band were like
from a perspective of others apart from fans. I'd love to write
a book about this if I can get more material including photos together!
More news as and when it happens....
13 September 2003
I've added/changed the Gigs section to reflect recent additions etc.
I've also added a family tree page in the History section, which will be
added to and changed also very soon, as I am in contact with first-line-up
member Nigel Bamford now. If other members want to get in contact,
please do so, as I want to get the history of the band from all members,
with good and bad memories!
6 September 2003
The Knitting Factory gig IS in LA after all! Another gig has been
added to the US tour too. Hopefully I'll be getting the Puntalarock
gig on video soon thanks to a contact.
More news as it happens!
30 August 2003
Thanks to those who have been sending in images and stuff about upcoming
gigs - looks like the USA will be getting a good few visits in September, as
Discharge play the East Coast with Toxic Narcotic on September 20-29.
Dates to be confirmed. Another change is the gig that is going to be
at Knitting Factory is actually in NYC and not LA on October 10. Let
me know if the details are correct.
A few more images of the lads pre-gig I think has come
in, so they're in the Images section. Cheers to Jari for those!
Also added a transcribed interview from Sounds magazine/newspaper from 1981.
This is in the History section. I've been
meaning to put this in for a while, but forgot about it until now.
If anyone out there has the Toys Factory release of
"Grave New World" on CD, get they touch as I feel it will be better than me
trying to digitise the vinyl....
Mike Stone is currently selling off his old file copies
of Discharge singles and albums on Ebay. "Realities of War" has just
been sold, with HNSNSN going up for grabs now. I got in touch with
Mike and he's agreed to an interview, so that'll be up on the site soon.
What I'd really like to do is get enough material
together so that a book could be published about the lads, as I feel they've
not been represented by media that well and deserve it for their
contribution to the scene. If we can source a cheap way of getting the
book published with their approval - hopefully filled with rare photos - I'm
sure the book would go down a storm. If you have any contacts at all
with ex-members or indeed current members, please get in touch.
If there are any T-shirts on sale at the gigs and you're
going to one, again get in touch to sort something out with me! Any
audios/videos etc etc etc....!
10 August 2003
There are some gigs coming up, but nothing is confirmed yet - check out the
gigs section for more detail. The news that a
British gig at the Astoria in London may well be on soon is just a rumour at
present, but here's hoping...!
There are more shots of the lads going mad in Finland in
the images section. Rat and Bones look
particularly angry! Here's the set list they performed:
1 Realities of War
2 Ain't No Feeble Bastard
3 Corpse of Decadence
4 Protest and Survive
5 Hype Overload
6 Never Again
7 You Deserve Me
8 Hear Nothing See Nothing Say Nothing
9 Fight Back
10 Accessories by Molotov
11 The More I See
12 M.A.D.
13 A Hell on Earth
14 Decontrol
Extra:
15 The Possibility of Life's Destruction
16 State Violence/State Control
Extra for the second time:
17 Fight Back
18 Protest and Survive
Anyone with a video or audio of this gig, please get in touch.
29 July 2003
Happy Birthday to me! And what a birthday gift I got! Some kind
person sent me a picture from the Puntalrock festival that Discharge played
at over the weekend - a resized version is over in the
Images section.
Well, by all accounts, the gig went well, with 5 or so
songs from the new self-titled album and the rest of the set being of the
old school.
The Full Force gig did not go ahead, due the previous
injuries sustained after the car crash earlier in the year, but by all
accounts the lads are set to play the British Invasion 2K3 on 20th September
at
ORANGE PAVILION-Nationall Orange Show Fairgrounds 689 South "E" St.,San
Bernadino.
7 July 2003
Here is a little more news of upcoming (and recently played?) gigs:
5/7/2003: Full Force festival, Roitzscjhora, which is close to Leipzig,
Germany. See
www.withfullforce.de for more details. Sorry for the delay on this
one....I got tied up with other stuff and thought it was happening later on
in the month....D'Oh! If anyone seen the gig, let me have a report or
photos or anything....!
1/8/2003: Tinto festival, Spain.
20/9/2003: San Bernardino, California, USA.
Still no sign of any UK shows yet...come on lads, spread
the joy to the homeland!
18 June 2003
I have had Marvin of The Varukers clarify why Dis didn't play the festival,
so take it as GOSPEL, OK?
The alleged reason of Rat not being up to it, is absolute
rubbish, as The Varukers have had to cancel their gigs in order for Rat to
continue with Discharge, which they are more than happy to do as they are
big fans too. Rat is more than capable of the job and so I for one
look forward to seeing the guys play the UK, which hopefully will be soon!
Another potential gig is at Roitschjora, Full Force on
June 21st. Again, the information is not concrete, but apparently is
on Rebeccas Punk Page. I can't seem to view it as it's a 'Page Not
Found' job, but can anyone else confirm this gig?
15 June 2003
It seems that Discharge could not play the HULTSFREDSFESTIVALEN in Sweden
yesterday due to them having a car crash on the Tuesday night.
Apparently it was nothing serious and things should be OK soon. Other
reports that Rat wasn't up to singing, signalling the cancellation, have not
been confirmed nor denied though....
Hopefully the Finland Puntalarock gig will still go ahead
as planned - visit
http://www.puntala-rock.com for more details.
Special thanks to Jonas von Kjerrulf and Mikko Koivuluoma
- organiser of the Puntalarock - for these bits of news.
If anyone has press cuttings, interviews, photos, video,
audio, memories from any Discharge event, please get in touch, as I am
trying to collate a big Discharge encyclopedia.
Also, I am still trying to get a good capture of the
black and white gig onto DVD. My DVD+R recorder does not give me the
result I am looking for, but hopefully I may be able to get it onto a DVD-R
recorder in the near future. All those who have asked for it please
bear with me.....
25 May 2003
Another show looks like go ahead now - this time in Finland! The
Scandics are definitely getting the best deal at present here! The
latest news is that Discharge will play the PuntalaRock festival on 26 July
2003.
If you know anything more about this, or will be
videotaping it if it goes on PPV, or at the concert, or taking any photos,
or recording the gig, then get in touch!!!!
22 May 2003
It looks like the rumours are now true and the lads are to play live after
all. Discharge are to play the Swedish festival HULTSFREDSFESTIVALEN
on June 14th at 5.30pm - you can't be much more definite than that, eh?
The website for the festival -
http://www.rockparty.se
has all the details, which isn't much, but at least confirms the band to be
playing!! This is hopefully the start of what should be a great tour
we hope! If anyone is going to see them and is to be filming the
concert, or recording it or even taking photos, please get in touch, as I'll
be very interested in any footage etc!
6 May 2003
There's another hot rumour going around now and one I hope to confirm very
soon: Discharge are to play the HITS festival in Morecombe this year -
Rainy, Bones, Tezz and Rat from The Varukers on vocals - this is great news
if it's true as we could then see a proper tour possibly.....more news as
and when I get it!!!!
13 April 2003
It's been a while since I done an update, but thanks for all your mail -
it's great to see people taking an interest in the site.
A few things now....
First off, I know about the crap lyrics for a few of the
songs listed. I'm working on it and waiting for a more definitive
answer to this one, so please don't get in touch about it (I'm so
embarrassed!)
Secondly, it looks like Discharge will still not be
playing gigs, due to Cal's lack of interest in the live performance!
Any other news of Dis doing gigs looks like it will be fiction....watch this
space!
Lastly, I will a some point be creating a menu for the
Discharge LIVE DVD I recently captured to DVD+R. It is poor and at
present I haven't much time to do stuff, but please bear with me. Any
interested parties, please contact me for further details.
22 February 2003
I have heard from another source that the guys may well be playing The
Astoria, London, in April. By all accounts it's from a good source,
but nothing has been confirmed so far.
I also have two copies of their latest album (simply
called Discharge) and they are the promo versions, with card covers, like CD
singles sometimes are. They look great and are of course rare!
If anyone wants one, they are going to go to the first
two people who can make me a decent offer.
20 February 2003
Thanks to all those who have wrote in clearing up bits of the Gig guide.
Keep up the good work! I dug out my old tape of the guys doing a
concert (somewhere). It's one that many people have seen - the one
where the gig is shot twice...one on stage and one in the Circle overlooking
the band. It's in black and white and pretty poor quality, but I
dumped it onto DVD+R using my Philips recorder. I am going to remaster
it with a menu and stuff and if anyone is interested in grabbing a copy or
have a colour version of this classic gig, then please get in touch.
Still no sign of any contact with the band, but I'm not
giving up hope yet! No sign of any gigs yet....The Exploited are touring in
the summer, but Discharge haven't announced anything to date.
12 December 2002
After getting in touch with close friends and the like, I can now reveal
that Discharge do intend to tour with the original line-up!!!!!
Tezz has confirmed this via close mates at
Mohawk
Masters that 2003 should see the guys out on tour. I can't wait
and I bet you can't either! More details to follow when I can confirm
what is planned.
27 November 2002
A few minor adjustments to layout and corrected a few spelling mistakes,
etc. Steve form the Skeptix (Discharge guitarist circa Brave New
World) has got in touch recently. Hopefully we will have more info
from him regarding his stint in the band. You can visit his other
website(s) at
www.theskeptix.com.
22 November 2002
Here it is - the launch of the site PROPER. Instead of the one-page
lack of content thing that existed until now, you should now see this!
With a bit of luck, I should be contacting Tezz soon with
a view to what is happening in the world of Discharge. Seeing as
he's recently re-joined Broken Bones along with brother Bones, it may well
be that Discharge are only going to be a studio band from now on.
Recent rumours or hearsay that they might support Metallica seem unfounded
and probably wouldn't happen.
The live CDs artwork can be downloaded from here too.
If you want to know more, then contact me.
